Procession is my new artist book and it'll probably be the last work of 2012.

This will likely be the last book of 2012.
I made 6 miniature books this year and I thoroughly enjoyed making them.

I am working on a new book at the moment for my first book of 2013.
It's going to be series of small linocut prints based on Japanese word-play...
I can't wait for the studio to open so I can start printing them!

An offering for a goose queen

This book will be displayed at Tinker Tailor in Trentham in Victoria, Australia.

Tinker Tailor is a studio gallery supporting local artists and craftpeople. (my previous post about them)
Andrew and Julia Rutkin's lovely space has an eclectic range of handmade works.
My prints are also on their wall.
I love visiting there, Rutkins have such wonderful family and Trentham is a beautiful place to visit.
About an hour away from Melbourne, it's a great weekend away too.

Mountain song

This is my new book, Mountain song.
It's a papercut book with each section handsewn and also sewn again directly to the spine.

This book sort of becomes a tunnel when viewed from the first and last page with other pages layered on to the other.

Also I discovered it makes lovely shadows under sunshine.
It's one of my dream to make works entirely with shadows!

It's a smallish book, 13cm x 10cm, bigger than my other books.

Battle of wolves

Battle of wolves is a new artist book.

I made this book at my ex-lecturer and printmaker Jazmina Cininas' studio who kindly offered me her space and a press while she was overseas.

Jazmina Cininas is a Melbourne based printmaker who uses reduction linocut to create extremely labour intensive images of female werewolf characters in Eastern European mythology as well as more contemporary and pop culture context.

At her studio, animals and strange monsters are roaming around together with old and new images of women.

As I was surrounded by images of fascinating mix of werewolves, monsters, Red riding hood and other animals like foxes, dingos etc at her studio, it was very tempting to use these images as reference to make something.

I combined many of the images from her pin board and books with drawings from my sketchbooks and other monsters like Cerberus.

Soul of flowers

On the weekend, I was obsessed.
Obsessed with drawing what looks like trees.




I felt something had popped in my head!
I don't think I ever did drawing like this.


I looked at them today and remembered a poem I saw when I was in primary school year 4.


Please excuse my poor translation.....

Souls of fallen flowers,
Born every last one,
In Buddha's flower garden

Because flowers are gentle,
When the sun is calling,
They pop open and smile,
Giving sweet nectar to butterflies,
Giving their scent to people

When wind calls "Come",
They still follow it gently,

Even their corpses,
Become a meal in a playhouse
